Your company profit depends on controlling expenses, and property tax is statistically 37% of your business tax expense. Whether you are the CEO of a large refinery operation or the owner of a small commercial property, our staff is here to help you gain control of property tax expenses and improve your bottom line. We believe that whatever we do, " It's All About the Taxpayers". The staff of Senior Property Tax Consultants, Property Tax Consultants, and Customer Service Representatives at Bettencourt Tax Advisors offers a complete solution for your commercial protest needs. We will represent you at the informal and formal hearings with the county appraisal district. Also, Paul Bettencourt personally attended every BTA Judicial Mediation in 2010.
Real Property Services Real Property is defined as your physical land and improvements. Your real property offers a variety of opportunities for reductions in its appraised value based on Uniform & Equal Comparisons, Income, Cost, and potential Exemptions. At BTA we start by reviewing all possible avenues to reductions with the property owner. After the initial review a BTA representative will conduct a site visit looking for information that can be used during the protest process. Photographs will then be taken, if necessary, to support the data.
Once back at the office your BTA consultant will use the information gathered from your site and combine it with data from BTA's proprietary computer program, as well as rely on their industry experience and knowledge to develop a compelling hearing evidence package to present to the County Appraisal District during your hearing. May31st is the protest deadline for 2011, but if you protest now you can qualify for an early hearing, which would mean early results affording you the advantage of better tax planning for the coming year.

Business Personal Property Services The State of Texas mandates that Business Personal Property (BPP) must be rendered annually. It defines BPP as "items that can be owned, but are not attached to the land"; property that is used to produce income. The IRS and your local County Appraisal District use different methods and schedules to assign values to your BPP. Understanding how your county depreciation schedules are applied to different types of equipment and inventory can have a large impact on your bottom line. BTA's Property Tax Agents have experience working with county depreciation schedules and know how to interpret them and reclassify items, as necessary, to correctly report our client's BPP.
BTA's Property Tax Agent will visit the client's site to do a thorough assessment of all BPP. This inventory will then be classified by appropriate asset categories, and values will be calculated based on these classifications. The agent will then use the new valuations to protest the county's appraisal of the client's BPP. Renditions must be postmarked by April 15. *From http://www.hcad.org/Help/BusPersonalProp.asp
